Elders

Elders

Our Elders are elected according to the requirements of the office listed in 1 Timothy and Titus.  The Bible teaches us that their purpose is to shepherd the entire church and one another as a loving shepherd would tend to his flock.  The Elders meet with the ministers to cast the vision for the church and to shepherd and pray for the body of Christ at GrandView Christian Church (GVCC).

I was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1956 and lived most of my life in the Denver area.  In 1976, I began working at Auraria Higher Education Center (home of Metro State Community College and UCD) in their grounds maintenance department.  During this time, I met my beautiful wife, Cindy and we were married on December 30, 1999, in Security, Colorado.  Cindy and I have 3 boys and 4 grandchildren.  In 2008, I retired from Auraria Higher Education Center, with 30 years of service and Cindy and I moved to Penrose, Colorado.  In 2013, we joined GrandView Christian Church.  I am currently working part-time, as the grounds keeper, for the Four Mile Ranch and Golf Course.

I have been an Elder with GrandView for the past 2 years and my ministries include; working as a sponsor with our youth groups, leading a weekly Life group and participating in a weekly Triad/Bible study.  I am a good listener and continually pray for our church families and their life situations and the growth and outreach of our church.

I was born and raised in Canon City.  After graduation from High School, I attended Pikes Peak Community College, where I received a degree in Fire Science. During this time I met Allison and was hired by the Canon CIty FIre District in 1979. Allison and I were married in 1980 and we have three wonderful children and 5 precious grand-children. I am currently a Battalion Chief with the Canon City Fire District.  I also teach EMT, part-time, for Pueblo Community College and  in the summer months, I do custom farming for various people.

I have been an elder with GrandView, for the past 7 years. Some of my ministries include, praying for and overseeing the health and well being of our congregation, supporting our minister and helping in areas that I can, such as; mowing the church lawns and working in the church sound booth on Sunday mornings.

I was born in Haskel County, Kansas in 1945.  I met my wife, Sondra and we were married September 26, 1965 at the Pleasant Prarie Church of God in Satanta, Kansas.  We have two sons.  In 1979, we moved to Garden City, Kansas, where I worked for Bell Telephone for 21 years, retiring in 2001.  After retirement from Bell, I took up farming, part time and then started driving trucks from 2001 - 2010.  In 2011, we moved to Canon City and joined GrandView Christian Church.

I have been an Elder with GrandView for the past 4 years and my wife and I lead a Life group and a small Bible study, once a week.  As a retiree, I try to be available to help wherever and whenever needed, such as; visiting the home-bound members or those who are sick or in the hospital.  I also pray for and help oversee the church congregation.
